Conrad Models 1:50 – the brand most collections start with
If you collect in 1:50 scale, you cannot avoid Conrad. No other brand covers the construction site as completely: from crawler loaders to mobile cranes, truck mixers to sweepers. With around 200 models, Conrad is also the largest brand here in the shop – and usually the one you end up with when looking for a specific prototype.
What Conrad covers
The range is the real point. Excavators and wheel loaders, mobile and crawler cranes, dump trucks, truck mixers and concrete pumps, low-loaders, loader cranes, plus drilling rigs, road pavers, rollers, and municipal vehicles. Anyone wanting to set up a complete construction site can do so with Conrad alone.
Search by prototype brand, not by vehicle type
Many collectors do not categorize by excavator or crane, but by the manufacturer of the actual machine. Three prototype brands are particularly well represented at Conrad: Liebherr with 76 Conrad models, MAN with 30, and Mercedes-Benz with 27. These three overviews bring together all models of the respective prototype brand – regardless of which model manufacturer built them.
Factory finish or customer livery
Two worlds that differ significantly in price and availability. The factory finish features the machine manufacturer's corporate colors and usually remains available for longer. The customer livery shows the colors of a real construction, crane, or transport company – smaller production runs, often released only once, and consequently sought after by collectors. If you collect models of a specific company, this is exactly where to look.
The item number is more important than the name
Conrad lists versions of the same model under their own numbers, recognizable by the suffix after the slash – for example, 2100/20 and 2100/45 for the same mobile crane in two different customer liveries. The model name tells you which machine you are getting. The item number tells you which version. For customer versions, it determines the color, lettering, and rarity. If you are looking for a specific model, search by the number.
Don't overlook the accessory range
Conrad builds not only machines but also the surroundings: outrigger pads, crane hooks, traffic cones, transport crates, and sea freight containers.
