1:50 scale construction machinery models – the collector's scale
1:50 is the standard for construction machinery, and for good reason. The rule of thumb: what measures ten meters in reality becomes twenty centimeters in the model. Large enough for genuine detail – hydraulic lines, labeled cabins, movable joints – and small enough that an entire construction site fits into the display cabinet.
How to recognize a good model
The first touch reveals everything: die-cast zinc has weight. Models made entirely of plastic feel hollow and warp over time. In the models here, the main body is made of metal, and plastic is only used where necessary – windows, hoses, tracks.
The second feature is movable functional parts. A boom that can be telescoped in several segments, a rotating superstructure, lowerable outriggers: this is what distinguishes a collector's model from a toy.
Factory version, customer version, special edition
Most models appear in the factory version, i.e., in the machine manufacturer's house colors. In addition, there are customer versions in the paint schemes of real construction and crane companies. These are particularly popular with collectors because they are produced in smaller numbers.
Those looking for something special should check out the limited special editions.
What you will find here
This category brings together everything that works on a construction site: excavators in tracked and mobile versions, wheel loaders, bulldozers and crawler loaders, telescopic handlers, rollers, drilling rigs, and road pavers. You will find things that drive rather than dig among the truck models, and those that lift among the crane models. And for those looking for a specific machine manufacturer: all Liebherr models are bundled in one place.
