COBI Trains – Steam Locomotives made of building blocks
The smallest category in the shop and at the same time the one with the largest construction projects: two steam locomotives of the DR BR 52 class, both in 1:35 scale.
Two versions of the same class
The BR 52 was a war locomotive, deliberately built simply and in large numbers – one of the most widely built steam locomotives ever. We stock two versions from COBI: the 6282 and the 6283 in the TY2 version, the Polish designation for the same machine. The difference lies in the lettering and details, not in the construction.
What makes these building kits special
In 1:35 scale, a steam locomotive is a large-scale model. This is reflected in three points:
The length. Once built, a BR 52 including its tender is the longest object you can get in this range. Plan your shelf space in advance.
The assembly time. This is not an afternoon project, but a venture spanning several evenings – for many, exactly the reason why they buy such a kit.
The driving mechanism. On a steam locomotive, the linkage between the wheels is the most technically interesting component. Whether it rotates determines if the model appears lifelike or static.
