COBI Vehicles – Classic Cars Made of Building Blocks
Eight model sets, three worlds: German classics, Italian sports cars, and two vehicles from the GDR. COBI vehicles are the smallest of the three categories – and the only one where you can have the same car standing on your shelf in two completely different sizes.
The three groups
Opel is the most strongly represented with four model sets – including the 1970 Manta A and the Rekord C, known as the "Black Widow."
Maserati features twice on the shelf, with the GranTurismo Modena and Ghibli – the only modern sports cars in the category.
GDR vehicles are the two most striking models: the Trabant 601 and Barkas B1000, both in police livery. Iconic models that are otherwise hard to find as building kits.
The same car, two model sets
We carry the Opel Rekord C "Black Widow" in two versions: as 24333 in 1:12 scale and as 24597 in 1:35 scale. There is not only a significant price difference between the two, but also a completely different building experience – the large set features opening parts and a detailed engine bay, while the small one is an afternoon project.
That is why we include the scale in every title. If you sort by price, it is easy to order the wrong model.
The item number
The vehicles are listed under five-digit numbers at COBI, predominantly in the 24xxx range: 24339 for the Manta A, 24541 for the Trabant, 24596 for the Barkas. We include them in our titles because COBI carries models of the same prototype in different editions.
What to look for
Printed parts: Police lettering, license plates, and emblems are printed, not stuck on with stickers – on a car with large monochromatic surfaces, this is clearly visible.
The finished size: 1:12 is large. A model set in this scale requires more shelf space than any diecast model in the shop.
The box: It doubles as storage for instructions and leftover parts – for model kits, it is part of the collector's value.
